about

"A fuel tank caught fire during takeoff," Lovelock says. "There was plenty of time for everybody to get out, but many of the passengers wouldn't move. They just stayed there in their seats as they were told to, and the people who escaped had to climb over them to get out. It was perfectly obvious how to get out, but they wouldn't move. They died from the smoke or burned to death. And an awful lot of people, I'm sad to say, are like that. And that's what will happen this time, except on a much vaster scale."

Lovelock looks at me with unflinching blue eyes. "Some people will sit in their seats and do nothing, frozen in panic. Others will move. They'll see what's about to happen, and they'll take action, and they'll survive. They're the carriers of the civilization ahead."

lyrics

Look out! Do you see the flames?
Who will survive and who will remain?
Will you stay where you are with the seatbelt fastened
And calmly await, the fate, that’ll happen?
Or will you stand up and rise above the sheep
That are led to the slaughterhouse in their sleep
Will you learn from those that came before?
Life is on the line, the choice, yours

“Hello everybody, this is your captain
Here to report on what has happened
Technical difficulties have kept us on the ground
The machines won’t move or make a sound
I was cleaning my watch, now the engines won’t start
Experts are on it, stay calm, have heart”
I wake up, confused as hell
What’s going on and why does it smell?
The temperature is high and it’s not just me
“Sorry ‘bout the heat, we got a busted AC”
“Perfect, the situation just got better”
I was worried about the time now I gotta watch the weather
“Look out the window, that isn’t right
The wings are on fire and we ‘bout to take flight!”
You’re full of it man that can’t be true
This plane was approved by a pro trained crew
He points outside I can’t believe my eyes
The motor is burning, the pilot is blind
I try to warn the people I’m interrupted
By the voice on the speaker that should be trusted
“Remain where you are this is under control
Stay in your seat and do what you’re told”
I point to the fire, we gotta get movin’
“The pilot wants to stay, he know’s what he’s doing”
We climb over heads and run to the exit
“If you need anything ring the flight attendant”

Back on the runway, doing fine
Compared to those that stayed behind
They burned to death strapped to the seat
Hands above the head looking down at their feet
They want to know how we stayed alive
Listen to yourself and maybe you will survive
Call me a hero, but I a’int much
You can be one too if you know who to trust
We got out, cuz we saw the smoke
And I can smell it today, coast to coast
I warn of the fire, you can choose to listen
Edutainment, my duty, my mission
Remember this every time they speak
You can’t control the ground beneath
So be prepared to protect your own
When lightning strikes and floods the throne
